We hosted an Open Mic Poetry night in partnership with Bloomfield House as part of additional programming for ‘Battlegrounds: bodies + land, justice + law’. The night featured ‘Battlegrounds’ exhibiting artist Norman Grondin (Enola Cola) reading Buyer Beware / Apocalypse Sells.
The atmosphere in the gallery during the event was open, raw, and powerful. Live drumming was featured as many poets stepped up to the mic to share their creative opinions and experiences around many topics including social justice, gender and nature.
The Bloomfield House is grass roots, not for profit community outreach initiative that is dedicated to making quality art programs accessible to all people, while also providing popular education workshops with the intention of engaging the community in solution driven dialogue concerning the socioeconomic barriers facing at risk citizens living in marginalized communities.
