'Artseen' is Artcite's annual showcase of new and experimental art works by local artists. Originally a 'studio crawl', 'Artseen' has slowly metamorphosized over the years-- first it became a gallery showing, and later moved into the less traditional realm of 'site-specific' exhibition. In the past few years, Windsor and Detroit area artists have had the opportunity to present new works in all media (visual art, video, multi-media, installation and performance) in a special off-site space. Recent 'Artseen' shows have taken place in old factory spaces and abandoned buildings.
Past Artseens have taken place in: a closed dairy, the decommissioned Windsor Police station, a vacant factory, a former firehall / rehab center, The Old Walkerville Post Office, downtown office building(s) and a closed Bank. Full of interesting spaces to set up installations, do performances and show new works, these shows become festive events of astounding proportions!
